Dr. Hale Akamine

PhD, Clinical Psychology

Dr. Hale Akamine has been a licensed clinical psychologist in Hawaii since 1991. He has been the founder and executive director of the Family Ministries Center, Inc., 501(c)3 organization since 2002. Dr. Akamine obtained his doctorate from the University of Hawaii, Manoa and his B.A. Psychology, cum laude, from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Dr. Akamine is a Hawaii chapter member of the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Since 2019, he has conducted numerous seminars on the suicide crisis syndrome and its application especially to faith-based organizations in Hawaii.

Besides an active three-decade clinical practice, he conducts numerous seminars, radio and television interviews on family-related issues. Prior to the covid pandemic, Dr. Akamine was traveling regularly since 2000 to Fiji to assist faith-based organizations in mental health.
